Anambra dismiss Lassa fever outbreak claims

Anambra State has completely debunk Lassa fever outbreak claims in the state.
The state commissioner for health addressing news men stated that the state had a referral case from Delta and not an outbreak.

According to channels, reacting to the report of the outbreak of the fever in Anambra, he said that the doctor though from Anambra state practiced in Asaba and was refereed to Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

The doctor was referred to the hospital on August 15 by 3:19pm local time but died after three hours of management.

To guard against the spread of the disease, efforts are being made to trace persons that had come in contact with the dead doctor.

Mr Akabuike said 19 people were currently on low risk, with two others on high risk.

He, however, told reporters that the contacts were permanently on surveillance.
