There is graveyard silence in Nigeria today, a silence so strange and fearful that the hero's of yesterday have gone dump. Like a prisoner minutes before execution all have gone speechless muttering words that cannot be heard. What do you say when Lia Mohammed for once is out of words? Basket mouth is now quiet not minding his name. The human right lawyers and the other freedom fighters are tongue tied, sorry have tied their tongues. The very vocal pastors yesterday are suddenly spiritual and more pastoral. The save Nigeria and occupy Nigeria groups are now historical landmarks of the democracy we once had. The trumpeting priests and bishops are back to their chapels and Holy Masses.
The elders in the land are on terminal sabbatical choosing only to speak in parables and innuendos when over pressed. The erudite Nobel laureate has gone economical with words because in a season of silence eloquence is a misnomer. Even the once vibrant Lagos Ibadan Press  has lost its voice as a result of terminal sore throat or lexical recession. The youths are busy abusing each other on the social media over mundane religious doctrines and dogmas. The only voices that can be heard across the land today are the inaudible cries of innocent blood wailing all over the land and the deafening sound of Grave silence in the land. When this is over we will never forget the silence of those who could have spoken out but didn't because the silence of our friends is more fatal than the bullets of our enemies Let it be known that the silence of the majority today is the foundation for the tragedies to come.
In the end we shall overcome.
